The University of Manchester have welcomed Gonzalo Figueroa-Torres to the team of researchers who will be working on the Enahnce Microalgae project. By way of introduction, we asked Gonzalo to provide a bit of information about himself:
I am a research-driven Chemical Engineer with a strong bioprocess engineering background, and experience on:
- Algae cultivation: nutrient limitation, mixotrophic growth, starch and lipid accumulation, batch and fed-batch systems.
- ABE fermentation: Anaerobic fermentation of carbohydrates for the production of biobutanol.
- Biosorption: batch/continuous removal of heavy metals by anaerobic sludge; adsorption isotherms.
- Analysis, simulation and optimisation: kinetic modelling, optimisation algorithms, parameter fitting, surface response analysis, ANOVA.
Some of Gonzalo’s qualifications can be seen below:
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (2018)
University of Manchester, U.K.
M.Sc.Eng. Chemical Engineering (2013)
B.Eng. Chemical Engineering (2010)
University of Sonora, Mexico
