As part of the Cohesion Policy of the European Union, the INTERREG Atlantic Area Programme gives support to transnational cooperation projects in 36 Atlantic regions from five countries: France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom, contributing to the economic, social and territorial cohesion objectives.
The general objective of the Atlantic Area Programme is to implement solutions to respond to regional challenges in the fields of innovation, resource efficiency, environment and cultural property, supporting regional development and sustainable growth. With a total budget of € 185 million, it includes a financial allocation from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of over € 140 million.
